Army Buys Test Articles to Evaluate Chem-Bio Decontamination

The Army Contracting Command has made awards to several companies in support of an acquisition effort to assess promising commercial items for use as a General Purpose Decontaminant for Hardened Military Equipment (GPD-HME).

The products will be tested against specific evaluation criteria with the ultimate intent to procure and field an item that will provide a thorough decontamination capability for equipment exposed to chemical or biological agents. Such equipment includes tactical vehicles, shipboard surfaces, crew-served weapons and individual weapons. Awards were made to the following companies:

Production Products Manufacturing & Sales Co., Inc. (Saint Louis, MO)

Modec, Inc. (Denver, CO)

Intelagard, Inc. (Lafayette, CO)

Allen-Vanguard Corporation (Ottawa, Ontario)

Full details of the GPD-HME and Joint Sensitive Equipment Wipe (JSEW) rapid fielding initiative are available under Solicitation Number: W911QY-12-R-0007. The awards are being managed by Natick Contracting Division, on behalf of the Joint Program Manager for Protection (JPM P) and the Decontamination Family of Systems (DFoS) Program.
