Applications Due: Global Health Security Partnership Lab Capacity Grants

This CDC Center for Global Health is working to partner and build laboratory and biosurveillance capacity globally under this funding effort (CDC-RFA-GH20-2109) to reduce the risks of emerging infectious diseases and strengthen public health response to outbreaks. Grants are available to all types of organizations (government, academic, nonprofit, industry, etc.).
Supported activities include:
- Assessing capacity of national reference, provincial and district labs
- Identifying lab system focal points, defining a tiered services structure
- Developing and implementing strategic lab plans
- Mapping regional referral network for priority pathogens
- Defining and circulating supporting policies and regulations
- Establishing laboratory leadership, training, mentorship, peer-to-peer evaluation, biorisk management, quality assurance and proficiency testing programs
- Building up molecular and microbiology methods, specimen collection, referral and biosafety standard operating procedures
- Strengthen lab networks to ensure access to diagnostic testing
- Establish national standards for specimen inventory management and tracking
- Intensify mobilization of lab services and personnel during a public health emergency
- Improve and increase outbreak testing and reporting capacities
