SUMMARY:DARPA BTO BAA Deadline: Personalized Protective Biosystems
DESCRIPTION:The capability to provide unburdened chem-bio protection will maximize time on target for the warfighter and the stability operator\, provide operational flexibility\, extend mission duration\, and enable military operations in austere environments regardless of the threat. PPB will consist of lightweight materials that protect the warfighter from exposure to any CB threat while simultaneously providing a second layer of protection\, at the tissue barrier\, with bio-molecular\, commensal organisms\, or other technologies that protect the skin\, eyes\, and airway from CB threats. PPB will improve mission execution by solving the current protective equipment limitations including threat-specific vulnerabilities\, thermal/logistical burdens\, exposure risks during equipment removal/decontamination\, and on-demand availability during unexpected threat situations. \nA Proposer’s Day was held on 4 Dec 2019 for potential performers. Attendance at the event is not a prerequisite to submit a response to the DARPA Personalized Protective Biosystem Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). The full proposal deadline for this BAA is 20 February 2020. \nLearn more about this opportunity in Funding News. \n  \n## \nGlobal Biodefense provides this information as a courtesy. SUMMARY:GHSA Supplemental Funding Opportunity Application Deadline - Ebola\, Cholera Outbreak Response
DESCRIPTION:CDC’s Emergency Response and Recovery Branch may have funds available to support emergency activities in response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo\, the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh\, and/or global cholera outbreak response. \nIn response to the recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa\, Emergency Response and Recovery Branch (ERRB) has coordinated the establishment of CDC’s Global Rapid Response Team (GRRT). This funding opportunity supports the implementation of programs and activities targeted at increasing the rapid response capacity of CDC’s partners to support populations affected by disease outbreaks\, complex humanitarian emergencies\, armed conflict and other disasters. Its purpose is to decrease the time needed to respond to critical public health emergencies through the provision of logistical mechanisms required for the rapid public health response to humanitarian emergencies and disease outbreaks throughout the world. This effort will expand CDC’s ability to respond quickly and effectively in the event of public health emergencies worldwide. \nAfter a partner organization is initially selected for funding for a specific strategy and activity\, that partner organization may be requested to provide an application for additional strategies and activities through supplemental funding requests and/or a continuation application at the time when CDC solicits the partner organizations for a request for application for emergency funding. Requests to expand strategies and activities are not limited to particular focus areas or countries where the organization was initially selected for funding. It remains at the partner organizations’ discretion to submit an application in response to these supplemental requests or request for applications. \nRead more: Emergency Response and Recovery Supplemental Funding for GHSA Support

SUMMARY:Comments Due: Code of Conduct for Timely Sharing of Pathogen Genetic Sequence Data During Outbreak
DESCRIPTION:A key concern in recent outbreaks has been variable timelines between the start of an outbreak and the public availability of the first and subsequent genetic sequences. \nThe World Health Organization (WHO)\, upon consultation with many stakeholders and institutions working in the pathogen sequencing arena\, is proposing elements of a code of conduct for genetic sequencing data sharing in infectious disease outbreaks. \nThrough this code of conduct WHO seeks to enable rapid international sharing of sequence data\, allowing public health authorities\, product developers and researchers to collaborate more effectively from a position of mutual trust with respect for submitters’ rights to the information they provide. \nThe draft document is available for public comment until close of business on 28 January 2019. Comments may be submitted by individuals or organizations\, and will be considered for incorporation in WHO’s final Code of Conduct.
