SUMMARY:Proposals Due: RNCP-Wide Dosimetry Guidance and Monitoring of Sources and Irradiation Protocols
DESCRIPTION:NIAID is soliciting proposals to assess the current state of radiation dosimetry within the Radiation Nuclear Countermeasures Program to develop a consistent means of comparison and reproducibility across institutes. \nConsider submitting an offer if you can provide services\, facilities\, expertise\, and capabilities needed to develop a centralized dosimetry harmonization effort. Ideally\, you will have preliminary data demonstrating consistent and accurate dosimetry exposures within a clearly defined radiation exposure system that is used for nonclinical radiation animal (and in vitro) studies in more than one animal species (e.g.\, mouse and nonhuman primate). \nRead the full article on this opportunity here. \nResponses are due July 19\, 2019\, at 3 p.m. Eastern time.

SUMMARY:Estimated Release Date of Draft WHO Roadmap on Neglected Tropical Diseases 2012–2020
DESCRIPTION:At its eleventh meeting in 2018\, the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Neglected Tropical Diseases (STAG-NTD) recommended that WHO initiate a consultative process with the global NTD community to set new targets and milestones beyond 2020 to achieve the health-related 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). \nPhase 1 feedback was collected\, summarized and presented on 29-30 April 2019 at a STAG-NTD meeting. A second round of feedback from stakeholders will take place following the late June release of the Roadmap draft with the goal of finalizing the Roadmap and milestones by 1 August. \nSource: World Health Organization

SUMMARY:GHSA Supplemental Funding Opportunity Application Deadline - Ebola\, Cholera Outbreak Response
DESCRIPTION:CDC’s Emergency Response and Recovery Branch may have funds available to support emergency activities in response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo\, the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh\, and/or global cholera outbreak response. \nIn response to the recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa\, Emergency Response and Recovery Branch (ERRB) has coordinated the establishment of CDC’s Global Rapid Response Team (GRRT). This funding opportunity supports the implementation of programs and activities targeted at increasing the rapid response capacity of CDC’s partners to support populations affected by disease outbreaks\, complex humanitarian emergencies\, armed conflict and other disasters. Its purpose is to decrease the time needed to respond to critical public health emergencies through the provision of logistical mechanisms required for the rapid public health response to humanitarian emergencies and disease outbreaks throughout the world. This effort will expand CDC’s ability to respond quickly and effectively in the event of public health emergencies worldwide. \nAfter a partner organization is initially selected for funding for a specific strategy and activity\, that partner organization may be requested to provide an application for additional strategies and activities through supplemental funding requests and/or a continuation application at the time when CDC solicits the partner organizations for a request for application for emergency funding. Requests to expand strategies and activities are not limited to particular focus areas or countries where the organization was initially selected for funding. It remains at the partner organizations’ discretion to submit an application in response to these supplemental requests or request for applications. \nRead more: Emergency Response and Recovery Supplemental Funding for GHSA Support

SUMMARY:Comments Due: Code of Conduct for Timely Sharing of Pathogen Genetic Sequence Data During Outbreak
DESCRIPTION:A key concern in recent outbreaks has been variable timelines between the start of an outbreak and the public availability of the first and subsequent genetic sequences. \nThe World Health Organization (WHO)\, upon consultation with many stakeholders and institutions working in the pathogen sequencing arena\, is proposing elements of a code of conduct for genetic sequencing data sharing in infectious disease outbreaks. \nThrough this code of conduct WHO seeks to enable rapid international sharing of sequence data\, allowing public health authorities\, product developers and researchers to collaborate more effectively from a position of mutual trust with respect for submitters’ rights to the information they provide. \nThe draft document is available for public comment until close of business on 28 January 2019. Comments may be submitted by individuals or organizations\, and will be considered for incorporation in WHO’s final Code of Conduct.
