SUMMARY:Personalized Protective Biosystem (PPB) Proposers Day
DESCRIPTION:The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office is holding a Proposers Day meeting and webinar covering the new Personalized Protective Biosystem (PPB) program on Dec 4\, 2019 in Arlington\, Va. \nPPB aims to develop technology that reduces the need for burdensome protective equipment while increasing individual protection against chemical and biological threats. The program comprises two technical areas: 1) reactive materials that prevent threat agent access to the body; 2) a configurable barrier countermeasure that neutralizes threat agents at vulnerable points of entry (i.e.\, skin\, airway\, ocular). \nAdditional details\, including registration instructions\, are available at https://go.usa.gov/xp8dU. The registration deadline is November 26\, 2019\, at 12:00 PM EST or when capacity is reached. Registrations for webinar attendance only are accepted through December 2\, 2019\, or until webinar capacity is reached. \nDARPA hosts Proposers Days to provide potential performers with information on whether and how they might respond to the Government’s research and development solicitations and to increase efficiency in proposal preparation and evaluation. Therefore\, the PPB Proposers Day is open only to registered potential applicants\, and not to the media or general public. \nDARPA anticipates sharing additional program details in a forthcoming Broad Agency Announcement to be posted to the https://beta.sam.gov/ website.

SUMMARY:DARPA DIGET Proposers Day - Detect It with Gene Editing Technologies
DESCRIPTION:The Biological Technologies Office (BTO) of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is hosting a Proposers Day for the potential proposer community in support of a planned Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for the DIGET (Detect It with Gene Editing Technologies) Program. \nThe Proposers Day will be held on December 11\, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta\, GA. \nThe DoD requires timely and comprehensive threat detection to support overall readiness\, counter the spread of disease\, and promote stabilization missions. The DIGET program aims to deliver this capability\, leveraging advances in gene editing technologies to develop low-cost\, high-trust\, rapidly reconfigurable\, and fieldable diagnostic (Dx) and biosurveillance (BSV) technologies to enable detection of any threat\, anytime\, anywhere. \nThe Proposers Day goals include:\n1. Introduce the DIGET program vision and goals;\n2. Explain the mechanics of a DARPA program in general and the objectives and milestones\nof this program in particular; and\n3. Encourage and promote teaming arrangements among organizations that have the relevant\nexpertise\, research facilities\, and capabilities for executing research and development\nresponsive to the DIGET program goals. \nThe Proposers Day will include brief overview presentations by government personnel as well as\nan information session to respond to questions from participants. Potential performers can\nhighlight their technical capabilities through “lightning” talks such that teaming relationships can\nbe developed. Lightning talk presentations will be made accessible to the proposer community on\nthe DIGET program website after presentation at the Proposers Day. It is expected that DIGET\nwill require strong teaming efforts to successfully innovate and integrate critical technologies\nnecessary to meet the metrics of the program. Private sidebar meetings with the DARPA\ngovernment team and potential proposer teams can be scheduled beforehand on the registration\nwebsite. \nAttendance at this event is not a requirement for submission of a proposal or selection for funding.\nInformation relayed during the Proposers Day will be made available on the BTO section of the\nDARPA Opportunities page: http://www.darpa.mil/work-with-us/opportunities. \nInterested attendees are invited to present a brief one-slide PowerPoint summary of their interests\, capabilities\, and teaming goals. Speakers will be allowed 3 minutes for discussion during a\n“lightning” presentation session at Proposers Day. Presentations consisting of multiple slides will\nnot be granted a time slot. Requests for lightning talks and sidebar meetings will be accepted on\na first-come basis. All presentations must be emailed to DARPA-SN-20-12@darpa.mil\nno later than 12:00 PM ET on December 2\, 2019. Specific content\, communications\, networking\,\nand team formation are the sole responsibility of the participants. \nRegistration Information:\nPLEASE NOTE: Registration closes on December 2\, 2019 at 12:00 PM ET. \nRegistration is limited by the venue capacity\, and early registration is strongly recommended. The\nregistration cutoff date is December 2\, 2019 at 12:00 PM EST\, or once attendance capacity is met\,\nwhichever comes first. There will be no on-site registration. \nParticipants must register in advance through the registration website. There will be a $25\nregistration fee for the Proposers Day. Early registration is strongly recommended. Due to space\nlimitations\, attendance for the Proposers Day will be limited to the first 150 registrants. Interested\nparties are encouraged to coordinate attendance internally within their organizations prior to\nregistration. Attendance is limited to no more than two representatives per division/department.\nIndividuals that are unable to register because the deadline has occurred or capacity has been\nreached will be added to a waitlist.
