SUMMARY:Accelerating Detection of Disease: UKRI Industry Briefing for Life Sciences Sector
DESCRIPTION:The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)-funded Accelerating Detection of Disease (ADD) program will host a webinar on 1 October 2020 for life science companies to learn more about partnering and investment opportunities. \nOver the next four years the ADD program will recruit five million volunteers to support research intended to improve early detection\, risk stratification\, and early intervention for chronic diseases. \nADD volunteers will provide biological samples and health related data. With their consent\, volunteers’ data will be linked to NHS records\, and ADD will also offer volunteers feedback about their health\, if they choose. Some will be invited to provide repeat samples and join follow-on studies designed to test the potential of new diagnostic tests or treatments\, particularly if they’re at higher risk for certain diseases. \nThe unrivalled depth and detail of the ADD initiative will make it a unique resource for health research. Researchers from across academia and industry will have the chance to work with ADD to conduct studies that could improve the way we detect\, diagnose and treat diseases. \nSpeakers at the seminar include: \n\nAlison Cave\, Accelerating Detection of Disease challenge director at UK Research and Innovation\nAndrew Roddam\, CEO\, Early Disease Detection Research Project UK Ltd\, the charity that runs the ADD programme\nFiona Reddington\, Exec Director of Partnerships\, Early Disease Detection Research Project UK Ltd.\n\nADD is funded by £79 million from UKRI’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund which is expected to be matched by funding of up to £160 million from industry.

Requests for lightning talks and sidebar meetings will be accepted on\na first-come basis. All presentations must be emailed to DARPA-SN-20-12@darpa.mil\nno later than 12:00 PM ET on December 2\, 2019. Specific content\, communications\, networking\,\nand team formation are the sole responsibility of the participants. \nRegistration Information:\nPLEASE NOTE: Registration closes on December 2\, 2019 at 12:00 PM ET. \nRegistration is limited by the venue capacity\, and early registration is strongly recommended. The\nregistration cutoff date is December 2\, 2019 at 12:00 PM EST\, or once attendance capacity is met\,\nwhichever comes first. There will be no on-site registration. \nParticipants must register in advance through the registration website. There will be a $25\nregistration fee for the Proposers Day. Early registration is strongly recommended. Due to space\nlimitations\, attendance for the Proposers Day will be limited to the first 150 registrants. Interested\nparties are encouraged to coordinate attendance internally within their organizations prior to\nregistration. Attendance is limited to no more than two representatives per division/department.\nIndividuals that are unable to register because the deadline has occurred or capacity has been\nreached will be added to a waitlist. If slots remain open after registration closes or become\navailable due to cancellations\, the slots will be filled on a first-come\, first-serve basis from the\nwaitlist. An online registration form and various other meeting details can be found at the\nregistration website: https://events.sa-meetings.com/DIGETProposersDay. \nPotential proposing teams are not required to attend Proposers Day\, although participation is\nstrongly encouraged. \n\n\n\n\nContact Information\nPlease direct all questions to DARPA-SN-20-12@darpa.mil and refer to the DIGET Proposers Day (DARPA-SN-20-12) in all correspondence. \nGlobal Biodefense is a news publication and not directly responsible for this event. SUMMARY:Personalized Protective Biosystem (PPB) Proposers Day
DESCRIPTION:The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office is holding a Proposers Day meeting and webinar covering the new Personalized Protective Biosystem (PPB) program on Dec 4\, 2019 in Arlington\, Va. \nPPB aims to develop technology that reduces the need for burdensome protective equipment while increasing individual protection against chemical and biological threats. The program comprises two technical areas: 1) reactive materials that prevent threat agent access to the body; 2) a configurable barrier countermeasure that neutralizes threat agents at vulnerable points of entry (i.e.\, skin\, airway\, ocular). \nAdditional details\, including registration instructions\, are available at https://go.usa.gov/xp8dU. The registration deadline is November 26\, 2019\, at 12:00 PM EST or when capacity is reached. Registrations for webinar attendance only are accepted through December 2\, 2019\, or until webinar capacity is reached. \nDARPA hosts Proposers Days to provide potential performers with information on whether and how they might respond to the Government’s research and development solicitations and to increase efficiency in proposal preparation and evaluation. Therefore\, the PPB Proposers Day is open only to registered potential applicants\, and not to the media or general public. \nDARPA anticipates sharing additional program details in a forthcoming Broad Agency Announcement to be posted to the https://beta.sam.gov/ website.

SUMMARY:DARPA ReVector Proposers Day
DESCRIPTION:The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office is holding a Proposers Day meeting on 17 May 2019 to provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of the new ReVector program and to facilitate teaming. \nThe goal of ReVector is to develop an easily delivered treatment — for example\, a topical solution — that safely and temporarily modifies the human skin microbiome to alter scents and thereby reduce attraction of disease-spreading mosquitoes. \nThe Proposers Day will include overview presentations by DARPA personnel and potential government partners; an information session during which government personnel will respond to questions posed by participants; “lightning” talks (three minutes\, one slide) to allow potential proposers to highlight technical capabilities of interest and promote teaming; and short sidebars with DARPA personnel for discussion of any proprietary information that participants would not want to disclose in the other open sessions. \nAttendance at this event is not a requirement for submission of a proposal or selection for funding. Information relayed during the Proposers Day will be made available on the BTO section of the DARPA Opportunities page: http://www.darpa.mil/work-with-us/opportunities. \nDue to space limitations\, attendance is limited to no more than three attendees per division/department unless capacity is not reached. \nParticipants must register in advance through the registration website. You will be required to show government-issued\, picture identification that is compliant with the REAL ID Act of 2005. \nInformation about registration and various other meeting details can be found at the registration website. \nFurther administrative questions should be addressed to DARPA-SN-19-48@darpa.mil. Please refer to the ReVector Proposers Day (DARPA-SN-19-48) in all correspondence. \nDARPA hosts Proposers Days to provide potential performers with information on whether and how they might respond to the Government’s research and development solicitations and to increase efficiency in proposal preparation and evaluation. Therefore\, the ReVector Proposers Day is open only to registered potential applicants\, and not to the media or general public.

SUMMARY:DARPA Panacea Program - Accessing the Dark Proteome
DESCRIPTION:The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office is holding a Proposers Day to provide information on the structure and objectives of the Panacea program. \nThe event will be held on December 14\, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST at the Executive Conference Center (ECC; 4075 Wilson Blvd.\, Suite 300\, Arlington\, VA 22203). Advance registration is required. \nPanacea aims to integrate systems pharmacology and advanced medicinal chemistry approaches to expand the human drug target space for therapeutic interventions in the areas of acute management of pain and inflammation and the improvement of physiological endurance under oxygen-limited conditions or environments. Panacea will support the development and proof-of-concept demonstration of a new integrated platform for the rapid prediction\, synthesis\, and validation of pharmacological interventions. \nNew drug development for the Panacea program will be focused towards solving two critical problems facing DoD personnel: alleviating pain/inflammation without unwanted side effects and positively mitigating metabolic stress. \nDARPA seeks to bridge the gaps between the chemical space required to identify and produce novel pharmacological interventions and the complex biological space whose functions must be quantified in order to predict and validate the benefits of those interventions for these two desired indications. \nThe success of the Panacea program will represent a paradigm shift in the new drug discovery process and provide new technology that enables more rapid\, safe and effective therapeutic drug development for military and civilian health. \nSpecifically excluded from this effort is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice\, that requires genetic manipulation of the intended recipient\, or that relies on discovering novel pharmacodynamic space for known therapeutics to identify additional indications. \nAdditional details\, including registration instructions\, are available at https://go.usa.gov/xP6hD. Please address administrative questions to DARPA-SN-19-12@darpa.mil\, and refer to the Panacea Proposers Day (DARPA-SN-19-12) in all correspondence.
