One Year of Implementation: USDA/APHIS Contingency Planning and Training of Personnel Rule
June 4 - June 5
After one year of implementation of the USDA APHIS Contingency Planning and Training of Personnel Rule 2022, the workshop planning committee is looking to understand the successes, challenges, and lessons learned from this rule.
This workshop will focus on engaging with relevant communities to clarify the evolving definitions in the Contingency Rule, analyze the adoption of the Contingency Rule across different research institutions, and delve into the evaluation of training program effectiveness and retention rates in these institutions. Additionally, this workshop will look at the rule’s impact and the evolving strategies in safeguarding animal and plant health and well-being.
A questionnaire in advance of the meeting is available for individuals who are directly involved in the planning and implementation of contingency plans for animals in the event of emergencies including, but not limited to, fires, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, other natural disasters, HVAC failure, animal escapes, and extended utility failures.
The workshop is being recorded and the recording will be posted to the event webpage about two weeks following the event.
