The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) has issued a solicitation for non-human primate laboratory testing services. The samples to be tested are in support of research on Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV), which is very similar to Human Immunodeficiency Virus in humans.
Companies must demonstrate expertise in sample handling and preparation of a wide variety of clinical submissions such as Complete Blood Counts, Blood Chemistry Analysis, Urinalysis, Bone Marrow Aspirates and Cerebral Spinal Fluid Samples.
The data obtained is used to determine the health and well being of non-human primates assigned to Animal Study Proposals. In turn, this data assists in enabling both Investigative Research staff in conjunction with Research and Clinical Veterinary staff to determine the animals’ current status of Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV), which is very similar to Human Immunodeficiency Virus in humans.
The contract to be awarded is for 1 base year and 4 option years. Estimated volume is 150-200 specimens per month. The response deadline for organizations capable of fulfilling this service is January 17, 2012. Please see the official announcement here for complete information.
