The U.S. Army last week announced it is reassessing the procurement strategy for the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosives (CBRNE) and Force Protection Defense Systems Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) services effort. A draft request for proposals issued back in August 2012 was officially cancelled last week.
The CBRNE CLS contract is overseen by the Joint Project Manager for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Contamination Avoidance (JPM NBC CA) and includes operation, maintenance and supply of highly complex systems for detection, mounted and dismounted reconnaissance, individual and collective protection, decontamination and force protection against CBRNE threats.
Systems covered under the support contract would include the Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS), Joint Biological Standoff Detection System (JBSDS), Joint Portal Shield (JPS), Joint Nuclear Biological Chemical Reconnaissance System 2 (JNBCRS2), and other CBRNE platforms.
