The following award mechanisms are available, listed with their respective pre-application deadlines:
Technology/Therapeutic Development Award (June 11, 2015): Supports the development of diagnostics or therapies that have the potential to make a strong impact on patient care in the topic areas of interest. Product-oriented, e.g., device, drug, clinical guidelines. Excludes clinical trials.
Investigator-Initiated Research Award (June 11, 2015): Supports research that will make an original and important contribution to the field of research or patient care in the topic areas of interest. Partnering PI Option available. Clinical trials will not be funded
Clinical Trial Award (June 18, 2015): Supports the rapid implementation of clinical trials of novel interventions with the potential to have a significant impact on patient care in the topic areas of interest. Proposed projects may range from small proof-of concept trials through large-scale, definitive trials.
Focused Program Award (June 18, 2015): Restricted to the topic areas of Acupuncture, Advanced Prosthetics, Burn Pit Exposure, Cardiovascular Health, Congenital Heart Disease, Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, Healthcare-Acquired Infection Reduction, Hepatitis B, Hydrocephalus, Integrative Medicine, Metals Toxicology, Mitochondrial Disease, Nanomaterials for Bone Regeneration, Osteoarthritis, Pathogen-Inactivated Dried Plasma, Pulmonary Fibrosis,Psychotropic Medications, Respiratory Health, Sleep Disorders, Vascular Malformations, and Women’s Heart Disease.
PRMRP Discovery Award (June 25, 2015): Supports the exploration of a highly innovative new concept or untested theory in the topic areas of interest. Not intended to support the logical progression of an already established line of questioning. Clinical trials will not be funded. Reviewers will be blinded to the identity of the PI, collaborators, and their organizations.
All studies must be responsive to the healthcare needs of the military Service members, Veterans, and/or beneficiaries; however, the use of military or Veteran populations is not required.
