The COVID-19 Response team was formed to organize and execute an investment strategy for the foundation’s comprehensive $100M response towards containment and mitigation of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus. This effort is comprised of several workstreams from across Global Health, Global Development, and Global Policy & Advocacy and includes resources from multiple PSTs within each division. As part of the foundation’s commitment to respond to this rapidly growing epidemic, we are seeking an Program Manager to support the core working group responsible for coordination of efforts across three major areas of focus: accelerating detection & containment, protecting the most vulnerable populations, and developing products for a sustained response.
This job posting is for an LTE position, with an end date no later than December 20, 2020.
Position Summary & Core Responsibilities
As a key member of the COVID-19 Response team, the Program Manager will work with the SPM support team on operational aspects of the response effort including pipeline and portfolio management, reporting, strategic alignment across workstreams, integrating project and change management, knowledge management, and other logistical/surge support.
You will also partner closely with the various foundation Program Strategy Teams (PSTs), functional teams, and business partners to help manage the portfolio of cross-division investments.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Partner closely with COVID-19 team leadership, including the Incident Manager, Deputy Director, Strategy Planning and Management, Associate Strategy Officer, Workstream Leads, and business partners
- Provide project management, problem-solving support, and initiative leadership for portfolio and operational management issues
- Support management of key COVID-19 response business processes including budget management, forecasting, and reporting.
- Support program officers to ensure that portfolio investments are strategically aligned, and outcomes are defined that will lead to impact on key response objectives.
- Monitor grant and contract pipeline to produce accurate forecasts vs. budget reporting and performance against key milestones and outcomes to facilitate management decision-making.
- Maintain understanding of and alignment with cross-foundation working groups that are impacted by COVID-19 response efforts
- Expertly facilitate process definition and improvement efforts in support of staff productivity. Work with POs and workstream leads to identify process gaps and inefficiencies that impede effectiveness.
- Promote efficiency and productivity on the team by providing leadership and support in process development and improvement, implementation and improvement of tools, analysis, reporting and change management.
- Consult/strategize with leadership across the workstreams to maximize impact of investment and financial processes and ensure optimal learning, decision making, and collaboration.
- Provide regular updates to the PM community across the foundation on COVID-19 response efforts to foster learning, gather feedback, and mitigate operational risks

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
