WHO EPI-WIN Webinar: The New Face of Pandemic Preparedness
May 14 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CEST
Charting Resilience in a Fragmented World
Public health leaders, global health professionals, and policymakers are invited to join the second installment of the WHO EPI-WIN Webinar: The New Face of Pandemic Preparedness, taking place virtually on 14 May 2025. This timely consultation will feed into the development of the 2025 Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) Report, a strategic document shaping the future of global health security in a world transformed by COVID-19.
Rethinking Preparedness in a Post-COVID World
The COVID-19 pandemic has served as a stark reminder that health crises reverberate far beyond hospitals and clinics. With impacts spanning from economic downturns and labor disruptions to inflation and weakened development gains, it is clear that traditional approaches to pandemic preparedness must evolve. The upcoming webinar explores how emerging vulnerabilities—from digital dependencies to misinformation and geopolitical instability—are reshaping the global preparedness landscape.
This webinar is a key part of a broader consultative process for the GPMB’s 2025 report, which will focus on three pivotal questions:
- What are the various impacts of pandemics we need to prepare for?
- After COVID-19, what can we anticipate for the next crisis?
- What insights can be drawn to improve preparedness in a fragmented world?
Webinar Objectives
Participants will gain insight into:
- The short- and long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic across regions and sectors.
- How these impacts are informing revisions of pandemic preparedness strategies and National Action Plans for Health Security.
