Powassan

Powassan virus disease is a rare, but often serious illness caused by a virus that is primarily spread by the bite of infected deer ticks. Most cases have occurred in the northeastern and Great Lakes regions of the United States. There are no vaccines to prevent or medicines to treat Powassan virus disease.
