Army Award to UMass for Respiratory Pathogen Countermeasure Research

by Global Biodefense Staff
July 12, 2012

The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to award to the University of Massachusetts Medical School for on-going research of clinical phenotype and immunopathogenesis of militarily relevant respiratory pathogens to support medical countermeasure development.

The UMass Medical School was a prominent intellectual contributor to on-going testing plans and aided in development of the original hypothesis that initiated the testing. The samples involved in the testing are in context of a collaborative relationship between the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research codified in a CRADA making them part owners of the samples and requiring their concurrence for use.

The contract action is available under Solicitation Number: W81XWH12T0313.
