Notable Contracts: Agentase, Harris Corp, Fresenius Kabi

The U.S. Department of Defense has recently awarded several notable contracts related to the field of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense or life science research of interest for potential applications in biodefense:

ICx Technologies Inc., doing business as Agentase Inc., Elkridge, Md., was awarded a $21,768,549 modification (P00081) to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price, option-filled contract (W911SR-08-C-0075) for services in support of the Joint Program Manager for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Contamination Avoidance program.  The cumulative total face value of this contract is $68,719,884.  Fiscal 2013 research, development, testing and engineering funds in the amount of $3,852,828 are being obligated on this award.  The Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., is the contracting activity. 

Harris Corp., RF Communications Division, Rochester, N.Y., is being awarded a $22,117,791 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for Harris radios and associated components which will be utilized within the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High Yield Explosive Response enterprise that interfaces with first responders, National Guard teams, military tactical components, law enforcement, and other Department of Defense (DOD) entities.  This contract includes the first delivery order for the procurement of 30 Harris tactical radios and associated components.  Work will be performed in Rochester, N.Y., and is expected to be completed in July 2015.  DOD Working Capital Funds in the amount of $1,329,420 are being obligated on this award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This contract was not competitively procured pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).  The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, N.J., is the contracting activity (N68335-13-D-0019). 

Fresenius Kabi, Lake Zurich, Ill., has been awarded a maximum $67,798,372 modification (P00022) exercising the first option year period of a one-year base contract (SPM2D0-12-D-0007) with seven one-year option years for various pharmaceutical products.  The contract is a fixed-price with an economic-price-adjustment, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.  Location of performance is Illinois, with a July 29, 2014 performance completion date.  Using military services are Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and federal civilian agencies.  Type of appropriation is fiscal 2013 Warstopper funds.  The contracting activity is the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, Philadelphia, Pa. 

Systems & Technology Research, Woburn, Mass., was awarded a $7,477,220 modification (P00006) to a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (W911NF-12-C-0043) for services the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s social media in strategic communication program.  Work will be performed in San Francisco, Calif.  Fiscal 2013 research, development, testing and engineering funds in the amount of $1,220,000 are being obligated on this award.  The Army Contracting Command, Research Triangle Park, N.C., is the contracting activity.
