by Global Biodefense Staff
December 4, 2013

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has awarded a multiple award contract (MAC) Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) with a ceiling value of $4 billion for all contracts, including options entitled “Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction Research and Technology Development IDIQ”.

Awardees include: Alion Science and Technology Corporation (Burr Ridge, Illinois); Applied Research Associates (Albuquerque, New Mexico); Engility Corporation (Chantilly, Virginia); Exelis Incorporated (Herndon, Virginia); Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation (Herndon, Virginia); Raytheon Company (Dulles, Virginia); and Leidos, formerly Science Applications International Corporation (McLean Virginia).

The IDIQ provides for task orders to procure research and development, providing scientific and technological solutions to meet DoD’s non-proliferation, counterproliferation, and consequence management objectives.

Work will be performed at contractor facilities as well as at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, with an expected completion date of December 2018 (base period) followed by a 5-year option period that, if exercised, will end December 2023.

This was a competitive acquisition and eight offers were received. The IDIQ contract provides a $100,000 minimum guarantee to each awardee. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Research and Development Contracting Office DTRA/J4CRB (Fort Belvoir, Virginia) is the contracting activity.
