by Global Biodefense Staff
December 7, 2015

The U.S. Department of Defense has recently awarded a notable contract related to the field of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) equipment or life science research of interest for potential applications in biodefense:

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded a contract under the Biological Technologies EZ BAA to Biomatrica, Inc. of San Diego, California.

The streamlined EZ BAA process is a unique DARPA initiative designed to make federal contracting process more accessible and to better attract new ideas in biotechnology.

Biomatrica is a provider of innovative products for stabilizing biological samples and assays at ambient temperatures. The company’s technologies have been adopted and validated by leading point-of-care, molecular diagnostic companies, government agencies, forensic laboratories, academic research institutions, global biobanks, and biotechnology laboratories around the world.

The DTRA contract is valued at $246,250.
