The U.S. Department of Defense has recently awarded a notable contract related to the field of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) equipment or life science research of interest for potential applications in biodefense:
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has announced intentions to award a sole source contract to FLIR Detection, Inc.
The award is a follow-on research contract to improve the tactical functionality of the Decontamination Assurance System (DAS) while reducing logistical burden and life-cycle costs.
This project will develop the use of supplementary optical devices to increase the speed and accuracy of identifying all contaminated areas of a DAS sprayed vehicle and mapping contaminated areas to a digital 3D surface for later retrieval.
The period of performance contemplated for this effort is 60 months.
