AMP 2014 – Association for Molecular Pathology

The Association for Molecular Pathology AMP 2014 Annual Conference will be held November 12-15, 2014 in the Washington D.C. area.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the AMP Annual Conference, and is themed “Realizing the Dream of Precision Medicine.”
National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Francis S. Collins, a leader in the advancement of molecular medicine and AMP’s first Award for Excellence recipient, will address AMP meeting attendees on during the first day of the conference. Dr. Collins will help AMP celebrate the significant progress made in genomic medicine over the past 20 years. He will also provide an overview of NIH’s current and future research initiatives, with particular emphasis on molecular diagnostics.
Corporate workshops will take place on Nov. 12, providing an opportunity for all AMP meeting attendees to learn from industry representatives about the latest scientific advances and equipment.
The conference will also offer a Molecular Pathology Outreach Course on Nov. 12, providing an overview of techniques and instrumentation used in molecular testing from the framework of the “Molecular Pathology/Molecular Diagnostic Toolkit.” Emphasis will be placed on molecular testing in the areas of clinical genetics, solid tumors, hematopathology, and infectious diseases. The application of novel technologies such as next generation sequencing will also be highlighted.
