Last week the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced multiple awards by the agency’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Office for research and development efforts in homeland security-related topic areas.

Objectives of the DHS SBIR Program include stimulating technological innovation, strengthening the role of small business in meeting DHS research and development needs, fostering and encouraging participation of socially and economically disadvantaged persons and women-owned small business concerns in technological innovation, and increasing the commercial application of DHS supported research and development results.
