Navy Contract for New Battlefield Dosimeters

by Global Biodefense Staff
December 11, 2012

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, on behalf of the Naval Dosimetry Center, is conducting a competitive procurement for the production of up to 1,000,000 Battlefield Dosimeters for the detection of radiation exposure.

The current Navy Battlefield Dosimeter, called the IM-270/PD, is nearing the end of its shelf life due to battery limits. This effort seeks to test and procure a replacement that meets a lengthy list of requirements for sensitivity, contamination survivability, physical attributes, data integrity and storage thresholds.

The intended period of performance is five years from the date of award with phased shipments of approximately 200,000 dosimeters per year plus associated readers and cases.

Full details are available under Solicitation Number: N0016713R0001. The response deadline is February 7, 2013.
