The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), as part of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), has renewed a general research funding Broad Agency Announcement (BAA).
In addition to applications in Aerospace and Chemical and Material Sciences, the solicitation prioritizes several topics of interest in the Life Sciences including:
Biomarkers, bio-circuits, bioelectric and connection pathways involved with increasing performance capabilities
Mechanisms and pathways for energy production in biosystems
Biomarkers and genetic changes associated with human performance decrement after the administration of toxicological agents
Fatigue and toxicology as they relate to performance decrement in the aviation environment
Synthetic biological process as they relate to energy production in biosystems such as enzymatic and microbial fuel cells
Research proposals in the range of $200-400K per year are encouraged. Awards may be proposed for up to five years. Full details are available under Solicitation Number: BAA-AFOSR-2012-0001. The announcement remains open until superseded.
