The National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases has made three contract awards for the Simian Vaccine Evaluation Unit (SVEU) effort for facilities and resources to conduct non-human primate immunogenicity research and pilot studies for new antivirals and vaccines.
The SVEU contracts will provide non-human primate (NHP) resources that primarily support preclinical evaluation of AIDS vaccines. The units will use state-of-the-art techniques and technologies in evaluating promising AIDS prevention strategies in nonhuman primate models and will incorporate new and improved techniques and technologies into the studies conducted throughout the contract period.
Contract recipients:
Advance BioScience Laboratories, Inc. Base Award with Minimum order of $100,000.00, total not to exceed $80,426,435.00
Bioqual, Inc. Base Award with minimum order of $100,000.00, total not to exceed $80,426,435.00
Tulane University Base Award with minimum order of $100,000.00, total not to exceed $80,426,435.00
The development of HIV vaccines and other prevention strategies relies on the use of NHPs in preclinical studies to advance the development of effective vaccine candidates and to advance development of effective topical microbicides and other prevention modalities or immune-based therapies.
