The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is seeking procurement of four handheld Raman spectrometers for quality analysis of medical countermeasure (MCM) drugs using library-based and chemometric methods.
The Raman instruments purchased will be used to develop rapid, library-based methods to study the quality of MCM drugs. These instruments will be deployed in the field internationally so they must be specifically crafted to be handheld and weigh less than 6 pounds. To serve the intended purpose of screening MCM drugs for quality and adulteration, the instruments acquired shall have a spectral resolution of not less than ~ 6-10 wavenumbers and feature a high signal to noise ratio.
Further technical requirements are listed under Solicitation Number: FDA-SS-1117688. The response deadline for capability statements is May 14, 2013.
