The following Request for Quote (RFQ) opportunities have recently been published by various federal organizations on FBO.gov:
USAMRICD RFQ for Hyperspectral Imager: The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD), Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. seeks to buy a hyperspectral imager. This announcement constitutes the solicitation by USAMRAA, Fort Detrick, MD as a Request for Quote (RFQ) and offers must be submitted in writing (oral offers will not be accepted).
The imager and associated software will be used for an existing protocol at USAMRICD. Essential characteristics and response requirements available here.
Uniformed Services University RFQ for RNA Sequencing Services: USU has a requirement for the services of sequencing RNA for approximately twenty-four (24) samples.
They have developed a 3-dimensional (3D) cell culture method in their laboratory. The next phase of their study requires the use of a new technique for sequencing RNA (RNASeq). “RNASeq will allow us to further identify unique messenger RNAs that may warrant further investigation.” They also require the services of an outside vendor to perform the sequencing, and to provide a bio-statistical analysis.
The selected vendor for this requirement will perform the RNA sequencing of the samples, generate, provide a useful analysis of the data generated, and have personnel available as a resource during the time that they are engaged in extracting any information that allows the lab to progress through the research phase. USU anticipates that the RNASeq process should be completed within 6 months from the time that our initial samples are submitted; however the performance period may be for one year.
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) is the Nation’s federal health sciences university and is committed to excellence in military medicine and public health during peace and war. They serve the uniformed services and the Nation as an outstanding academic health sciences center with a worldwide perspective for education, research, service, and consultation; and are unique in relating these activities to military medicine, disaster medicine, and military medical readiness. USU is located in Bethesda, MD on the grounds of the Naval Support Activity Bethesda.

FDA Sources Sought for Microarrays and Reagents: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Acquisitions and Grants Services (OAGS) has issued this sources sought announcement on behalf of the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) in order to determine if there are any businesses capable of providing Agilent Microarrays and Reagents for high quality and sensitive detection of miRNA Expression and high quality and sensitive detection of Whole Genome Gene Expression.
The FDA/NCTR currently uses the complete the complete Agilent Technologies microarray platform to perform whole genome associated studies. The manufactured microarrays must be compatible with the Agilent scanner to identify individual genes. To assure continuity and comparability with existing historical data, the FDA believes that these microarrays must be manufactured by Agilent using their proprietary design and manufacturing methods. These microarrays and reagents are needed for high quality and sensitive detection of miRNA Expression.
Further details available under Solicitation Number: FDA_14-223-SOL-1134967.
IDEXX Laboratories: Department of the Air Force RFQ soliciting for bacterial testing system, brand name or equal to IDEXX Laboratories. Must be able to conduct total coliform and E. coli counts in minimum of 18 hrs without having to take to lab for independent verification. Must provide minimum 95% test result accuracy with detection down to 1 cfu/100 ml. Further details are available at FBO.gov
