Notable CBRN and Biodefense Contracts

The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity has announced intentions to award a sole source contract to Remel Inc., a subsidiary of Thermo Fisher Scientific, for mission-critical consumables.

The contract is on behalf of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), Bacterial Diseases Branch (BDB) Multidrug Resistant Organism Repository and Surveillance Network (MRSN).

The contract is a Blanket Purchasing Agreement for consumable supplies for the Sensititre Aris 2x System, utilized by WRAIR to support MRSN’s mission of conducting epidemiological surveillance of multi-drug resistant organisms across the Department of Defense.

Ongoing projects at MRSN have used these reagents to maintain a validated data set, and continued utilization is in keeping with biothreat characterization and reporting standardization requirements mandated by the Presidential Interagency Combating Antibiotic Resistant-Bacteria (CARB) task force.
