The U.S. Medical Research Army Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) is conducting market research to identify parties capable of modernizing and providing sustained support to the Biodefense Laboratory System (BLMS) system at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease (USAMRIID).

BLMS serves as the core system within the USAMRIID IT architecture, providing a central repository of data for personnel, projects, resources, and information for the institute. This includes an electronic, searchable repository of relevant technical and administrative information related to each research project in the institute.

BLMS also addresses reporting requirements for providing information to external agencies with interest in specific projects within the institute, such as the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the Medical Countermeasures (MCS) Program, and other customers.

The system further supports information management of compliance with regulations pertaining to the use of Biological Select Agents and Toxins.

Required activities include performing configuration management, patching, providing user training and technical support, and making minor configuration changes to the system. Currently, over 900 users have accounts in BLMS.

Further details are available via Solicitation Number: W81XWH-17-F-0000. The RFI response deadline is November 10, 2016.
