Biosafety Concerns of Cell Sorting

The ChABSA will host a technical seminar by Drs. Kristen Reifel and Brandon Swan on the biosafety concerns involved in cell sorting on March 12, 2019 in Frederick, Md. Remote participation is available via webcast.

Dr. Kristen M. Reifel is a Principal Investigator in the Genomics group at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC). She is also a member of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC) Biosafety Committee, and recently selected as an ISAC Shared Resource Laboratory Emerging Leader.

Dr. Brandon K. Swan is a Principal Investigator in the Genomics group at NBACC. He received his PhD in Marine Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Single Cell Genomics Center located at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, the first user facility established for single cell genomic sequencing.

Registration for the event is required.

The Chesapeake Area Biological Safety Association (ChABSA), is an incorporated, non-profit organization that is an affiliate of the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA). ChABSA was established in 1987 by local area members of ABSA with a similar interest in the safety of research using microorganisms and recombinant DNA.
