by Global Biodefense Staff
May 1, 2015

The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground Edgewood Contracting Division has awarded a contract valued at $24,917,774 to Battelle Memorial Institute for the Common Analytical Laboratory System (CALS).

CALS integrates a common suite of analytical components to support the identification of Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) materials in environmental samples. The CALS program will develop and field two integrated system configurations to support an array of CBR missions for DoD field analytic units. Each configuration will support either field confirmation- or theater validation-level environmental CBR analysis.

Work will be performed in Columbus, Ohio, with an estimated completion date of April 30, 2018. Bids were solicited via the Internet with four received. Fiscal 2015 research, development, testing and evaluation funds in the amount of $20,028,259 are being obligated at the time of the award.

The CALS program is managed by the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD), Joint Product Manager CBRNE Analytics and Response Systems (JPdM CBRNE A&RS) within the Joint Program Manager Guardian (JPMG).
