Integration of Opioid and Infectious Disease Prevention Efforts in Select Programs

The National Academies Health and Medicine Division will host a public meeting of the Committee on Examination of the Integration of Opioid and Infectious Disease Prevention Efforts in Select Programs on 7 May 2019.

The workshop will take place in Washington D.C.

The committee will hear from invited speakers regarding topics pertaining to the statement of task.

Primary session topics include:

  • Multi-site HIV Program with Integrated Opioid Treatment
  • Comprehensive Treatment of Substance Abuse and Infectious Disease
  • Integration of Hepatitis C Virus Treatment and Substance Abuse Treatment via Telemedicine
  • Integrated Substance Use Treatment and Infectious Disease Treatment Programs (Inpatient / Outpatient)

The committee was charged with assessing the extent to which opioid and infectious disease prevention programs are integrating the services they provide. The committee will identify and highlight programs that are achieving integration as well as barriers to integration. Conclusions and recommendations from the committee will inform projects that promote patient-centered, integrated programs to address the opioid and infectious disease epidemics.
